Confined Space Entry (CSE)

The simple definition of Confined Space Entry (CSE) is anything that has not been designed for normal human occupancy. There are two types of CSE, Nonpermitted (CSE) or Permitted (PCSE). Below there are a few pictures and related details of Waters employees in CSE and PCSE situations. We have provided a link to OSHA's web site if you need more information on CSE and related regulations.   We are special in that we also have the ability to enter CSE locations with poor air quality due to our supplied air CSE services. Click Here to see the Osha provided CSE decision flowchart to help you decide if your project is classified as CSE and how to proceed.

The small area our technican must enter to get to the tank.

This photo shows the small area our technician must be lowered through in order to enter the tank. Due to limited lighting and other conditions, the only photos we were able to take were directly above the confined space entry area.  (Click for larger Image)

Our Technician 12 feet underground. Good thing he's not claustrophobic!

This picture shows our techician fully lowered to the bottom of the Sand/Oil Separator. The floor of this vault is about 12 feet below ground level. This chamber is the only entrance and exit for our technician. (Click for larger Image)

Confined Space Entry work - Not intended for human occupancy.
This picture is of a PCSE project. The technician is show cleaning the floor of a digester tank. Even though the digester has an open top. due to the fact that there is limited accessibility and the fact that "it's not intended for normal human occupancy", it is still considered PCSE.  (Click for larger Image)

Technician using a Guzzler Vacuum Truck hose. This picture depicts our technician operating a high-powered Guzzler Vacuum Truck hose. This vacuum truck is exteremely powerful and is capable of picking up large rocks with ease. In this situation it is able to thoroughly and quickly remove debris from the floor of this vault. In some cases, a Hydro-Flush (high-pressured water) may also be used to add water to the material and help to break it up. (Click for larger Image)
